A lot goes through your head after hearing the words “you have cancer”.  You may be feeling scared, uncertain, angry, or confused about your diagnosis.

Deciding where to seek cancer treatment, how to finance cancer care, understanding your disease and treatment options, and coping with emotions can be overwhelming. But, it’s important to remember that you are not alone and that help is available.

Nearly half of all Americans take one or more medications. The Center for Disease control reports that the most common medications are for heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and kidney disease.

While prescription drugs can help improve your health, they can also put a dent in your wallet.RIPEA believes that the cost of prescribed medications should be fair and manageable for its members. That's why we offer a stand-alone discounted prescription drug card through Express Scripts to all interested members.

What happened?

On January 29, 2015, Anthem, Inc. reported that cyber attackers had gained unauthorized access to personal information of both current and former Anthem consumers.

Information accessed and stolen may have included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, health care ID numbers, home addresses, email addresses, and employment information including income data.

However, Anthem has no reason to believe credit card or banking information was stolen, nor is there evidence at this time that medical information such as claims, test results, or diagnostic codes were targeted or obtained.

As you are probably aware Anthem was a recent victim of an external cyber attack. RIPEA is a plan sponsor of 2 Medicare Complement Plans with Anthem.

The information in this statement is the most recent information provided by Anthem including frequently asked questions. RIPEA does not know at this time whether our plan participants information has been accessed.
